This is ridiculous there is no reason at all to kill an unarmed person especially a special needs person but thats what the cops do these days they kill or beat people and then instead of getting fired either nothing happens or they get a paid vacation for murder. But obviously the president doesn't care and neither do the people you vote for because its been happening for decades and the government still does nothing but let the police do their own investigation which always ends up closed with no charges. It is true when people say their the biggest gang in the world.

This is not one of my "blame religious fundamentalists" articles at all. I'm saying they're the only one's with an out. My whole point is you have to live in a counter-factual world to honestly and calmly, with the best intentions, hit a child and think you're being helpful. The "'progressive' or 'liberal'" assailants you describe *know* that hitting their child is causing long term harm. If they don't, they're intentionally ignore your list of information outlets as well as anyone who has written anything about the subject in the last 20 years. That, or they just don't give a shit. In no case can an archetypal liberal explain to you why it's a good thing they beat their kids. Those days are gone.

A bit too much caricature. And a bit too divorced from reality. People who hit their children and believe it's proper parental authority exercised, they come from all backgrounds and beliefs. There's nothing limiting them to bible-thumpers, or people who believe in Speaking in Tongues, nor those writhing on the ground to show the Holy Spirit's presence.

I'm old enough and aware enough to be clear on what is socially acceptable, as a status at points in time, or as a continuum of attitudes and behaviors, regarding child-rearing. What you describe here, Jad, is more like how a "progressive" who takes in NPR, PBS, TED as gospel, as an internalized script of What Life Really Is To Real People Who Are Real Like Those On TeeVee Or Radio.

What I have witnessed is that people still beat their kids, and I've seen it in way more homes than the fundie whackjob families. I've seen less of it among those who call themselves "Christian" and appear to make some efforts at being like that Jesus dude. I've seen more of it among those who pretend at being "progressive" or "liberal." Even when their bumper stickers and tax-write-off donation checks to non-profits might suggest otherwise.

When you slip into that erroneous perspective, you may as well just write one sentence:

Those ______________ religious fundamentalists are at fault for everything I don't like about humanity.

It's a cartoon served up for D vs R electioneering, and the sub-variants of that enterprise which aim more toward cultural snobbery/distinction.

This is a nice, simple solution to the problems that plague American foriegn policy - if we were the only nation intervening and selling weapons and bombing Muslims. We are not, and eventually something in America would have been blown up in some way, shape or form. Oh, and Islam has been at war with the West for 15 centuries, so refusing to participate in the war merely means that only one side - the bad guy side - is fighting. It's a messy world and has been before there was a United States. All that the powers that be can do is the best with the limited amount of information and abilities they have.

Very well written post. It really is a total shame how society is breaking down due to the childish dependence and addiction to "authority". When the slightest conflict comes up, most look to "authority" to go fix it and this kind of abuse is the ultimate result.

As you said, Antonio is industrious and, fortunately, is also able to afford a very excellent high-profile lawyer. Personally, I think his lawyer will get him off in trial if not by grand jury. Even if his charges are dropped Antonio still loses because of all the time and money and emotional grief. His arrest will remain for life, again, even if all the charges are dropped. This could have major consequences in various areas of his life (employers, land lords, bank loans, mortgages, etc.)

Even if the charges are dropped the assholes who call themselves government won on many levels. They've intimidated the public regarding filming the thugs with badges. They've sent the message that they will not back down and it's they who are in charge and you are to obey.

But as his videos on his new channel show, there are so many people (victims) who do not have his finances and witnesses to counter the lies and abuse the police so routinely inflict. It's so obvious that they pick on the helpless, just like a school ground bully. These are professional mercenaries who are the same school ground bullies but with guns and badges and the approval of a clueless and brainwashed public.

I fear these devious criminals far more than the ones without the badges.

Oh, and let us not forget, the police are the government. They are trained by them, paid by them, and all their abuse is tacitly approved of. We know this because they do nothing to stop it or prevent it. Whoever the superiors of the police are (mayor, legislators), they could stop the abuse overnight, but they choose not to.
